Blists Hill Victorian Town, Shropshire
On Friday 6th August, the all new The Madeley Wood Co. Outdoor Adventure opened its doors for business to the visitors to Blists Hill Victorian Town.
The official ribbon cutting was completed by CBeebies Andy Day and Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust CEO, Nick Ralls. One little highlight was seeing the faces of the children seeing their Hero Andy and then their smiles when they saw the adventure play.
It's a project that we will cover in much more detail in a portfolio piece soon, but it is one we are particularly proud of and involved six months of the team on-site, working through some challenging Covid restrictions.
It was named after the company that ran the mining operations on-site and extends down through the woodlands, across some serious changes in topography, with a really exciting tube slide nestling up in one corner and an excellent zip wire at another.
Some of the detail in the finishing is astonishing (even if we do say so ourselves) even down to using black sand to replicate the coal mining history of the site.
It's open every day and access is included in the entry price. It was already a full day out for families, and now it's even fuller. Oh, and they serve exceptional coffee. If you have kids, you need to visit.
