This Policy statement supports CAP.CO’s Sustainability, Environmental and Health and Safety Policies. It also provides a framework for the implementation of procurement strategies from our supply chain. CAP.CO are committed to responsibly selecting materials, equipment and components utilising sustainable sources where reasonable to do so.
We will do this by:
– More accurately estimating materials required for projects to realise less waste and fewer journeys to site with deliveries and fewer returns at the end of projects.
– Providing staff with training, feedback and equipment to facilitate accurate measuring and ordering of materials, equipment and components to reduce waste at source.
– Encouraging and supporting the reuse of materials where practicable.
– Selecting materials, equipment and components that can be readily recycled when necessary.
– Encouraging the use of timber products from proven sustainable sources.
– Not selecting timber products that are from prohibited species or from any other illegal or dubious sources.
– Encouraging the use of greener alternatives for packaging and protection.
– Promoting the use of recycled products, materials and components containing a high recycled content or single substrate recyclable content.
– Promoting the use of more durable materials and products with increased lifespan.
– Prioritising the use of materials with a low carbon impact.
– Encouraging the use of products that have low amounts of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s).
– Using non toxic materials.
– Promoting the use of biodegradable products and materials.
– Minimising the use of paper and cardboard products. Promoting the use of paper from sustainable or recycled sources.
– Complying with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation.
– Sourcing materials locally (in relation to both, sites and workshop) where possible.
– Considering the selection of suppliers to reduce the amount of travel required.
– Consolidating deliveries where feasible and grouping materials and components on the same delivery where possible.
– Encourage car, van and vehicle sharing in relation to deliveries and transport of personnel to site.
– Where possible use local labour and workforce creating a positive impact on local communities and encourage our supply chain to do so too.-
– Vet our supply chain and ensure that, only bona fide suppliers are utilised that have a good track record and can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability practices.
