As a design and build business with operations in the UK, Europe, and the USA, CAP.CO is committed to managing our travel and transport needs in a manner that is both sustainable and environmentally responsible. We actively encourage working from home, and office-based staff are generally expected to be in the office a maximum of two days per week.
– Air travel will be considered only when it is essential for business and when alternative, lower-impact options such as video conferencing or rail travel are not feasible.
– We commit to offsetting the carbon emissions generated by all business air travel through credible local schemes.
– Where air travel is necessary, we plan trips to maximise efficiency – for example, scheduling multiple meetings across a US trip to minimise flights.
– Where possible, we select airlines that have demonstrated a commitment to reducing their environmental impact.
– We optimise shipping and logistics to reduce environmental impact, including consolidating shipments and choosing efficient routes.
– We work with freight and logistics partners who have robust environmental policies, including the use of low-emission vehicles.
– We use and encourage eco-friendly packaging that is recyclable, biodegradable, or sustainably sourced, and support manufacturer take-back schemes where available.
– We source materials locally wherever possible to reduce transportation distances and emissions.
– As our existing fleet reaches renewal, we are committed to integrating fully electric vehicles for personnel transport and logistics.
– We will invest in EV charging infrastructure at our offices and sites.
– We offer salary sacrifice for EV purchase and favourable allowances for EV use to encourage staff adoption.
– We promote public transport and carpooling among our team and provide information to support this.
– We offer access to the Cycle to Work scheme for all employees.
We collect and analyse data on our travel and transport activities to monitor environmental impact and identify areas for improvement. This policy is reviewed annually to ensure alignment with best practice and technological advances.
